Caltas

Caltas was a recent entry in the Best Solution to an Identified Workplace Health and Safety Issue in the 2008 Workcover Safety Awards. A storage and transport container for an oil pump was specially designed and manufactured to capture any oil spills during the transfer of bulk oil into smaller containers on customer sites. The previous procedure was recognised as a potential environmental issue and Caltas staff were encouraged to find a solution to the problem. The new container is easily moved on and off the delivery vehicle with a forklift and has enough room to store the pump along with all the required hoses and fittings. The hoses remain connected to the pump at all times and are easily taken out to connect to tanks and drums. Any oil collected inside the container is drained into a waste oil container through a built-in drain valve.
