Caltas Signs Tasmanian Heavy Vehicle Safety Code

Caltas has recently signed a commitment to support and abide by the principles of the new Tasmanian Heavy Vehicle Safety Code, launched by Minister Sturges on December 10. Philip Molineux (CEO) and Robert Smith (Group Driver Trainer) both received certificates of commitment to heavy vehicle safety, which was developed in consultation with HETSAC. The Heavy Truck Safety Advisory Council (HETSAC) was formed to develop leadership in the transport industry on safety initiatives and to provide high level strategies to improve heavy vehicle safety in Tasmania. The council's responsibilities include the active promotion of the introduction of safety and business. The new code provides guidance on what systems or frameworks can be put into place to improve business processes which impact on road safety in the heavy vehicle industry. The content provides information on issues that all heavy vehicle operators and drivers should consider to ensure operational best practice. Industry wide adoption of this Code will result in reduced heavy vehicle crashes. Our commitment to the new Code sends a positive message to the public and our industry about our company being a responsible operator and of our commitment to safe operations on our roads.
